Traumatology

Physiotherapy trauma is a speciality that focuses on the treatment of injuries caused by trauma, such as car accidents, falls, sports injuries or fractures. Physiotherapists specialising in trauma assess traumatic injuries, draw up a treatment plan and work closely with other health professionals to promote healing and optimal recovery.

The role of the trauma physiotherapist is to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, restore mobility and strengthen the muscles and structures affected by the injury. They use techniques such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, physical modalities (such as heat or cold therapy), electrical stimulation and other approaches specific to the injury.

Working closely with the patient, the trauma physiotherapist establishes personalised rehabilitation goals and guides the patient through the recovery process. The ultimate aim is to restore function, strength and mobility, and enable the patient to return to an optimal quality of life after a traumatic injury.
