Postural treatment in physiotherapy is a therapeutic approach that aims to assess and correct the body’s postural imbalances. It focuses on improving overall posture, with an emphasis on correct alignment of the spine, joints and muscles. Postural treatment is often used to treat problems associated with poor posture, such as back, neck, shoulder and hip pain.

During a postural treatment session, the physiotherapist carefully assesses the patient’s posture, observing muscle imbalances, abnormal curvatures of the spine and postural compensations. Based on this assessment, an individualised treatment plan is drawn up, including specific exercises to strengthen weak muscles, stretch tense muscles and realign the body’s structures.
Postural physiotherapy treatment can include muscle-strengthening exercises targeting the muscles of the back, trunk, neck and lower limbs. Muscle release and stretching techniques can also be used to relax tense muscles and improve flexibility.

At the same time, the physiotherapist can provide advice and recommendations for maintaining good posture on a daily basis, whether at work, at home or during physical activities. This may involve ergonomic adjustments, proper lifting techniques, advice on desk ergonomics, as well as advice on the best way to sit, stand and move to prevent postural strain and pain.

Postural physiotherapy treatment aims to restore optimal body alignment, relieve the pain associated with poor posture and prevent long-term complications. By improving posture, it also promotes better overall body function, greater stability and reduced muscle tension, contributing to a better quality of life.
